CLP Telecom managing director Peter Heavyside says CLP made the decision after an extensive three-month strategic review of the telecoms industry climate, concluding that "this is the right moment for us to enter the pay TV market". CLP Telecom's parent, CLP Holdings, acquired a 75% stake in Yes TV (Hong Kong) in May 2001 in an attempt to diversify its business. Yes Television chairman and CEO Thomas Kressner says the company was "disappointed and surprised" by the decision, but would press on with its planned trial service launch next month. more here: CLP TeleCom
